Seven things I love:
1. I love being in love. So in love that you just want to stare at the one you adore….stare from across the room without intruding for so long that you lose track of time. Even better is when you have the idea to indulge in gazing upon the one you love, decide to quietly look up so you won’t cause any disturbance, and when you lift your eyes he’s already staring at you.
2. I love checking in on my kids when they are sound asleep, kissing them on their foreheads and whispering to let them know how thankful I am that we part of the same family.
3. I love the way my cat and dog are like siblings. When they meet, they bump noses to say hello. When we take Max (our dog) for a walk, Nero (or cat) joins in like a little brother following along saying, “Me too! If he gets to go for a walk, I want to go for walk.”
4. I love certain scents: the perfumed powder my grandmother used to wear (I have a bit left even though they don’t make it anymore), the smell of the row of dryers behind a laundry mat, garlic and onions when a meal is just getting started. Vanilla – perfumes and lotions. Those cool lotions that have sweet smells – like caramel and pear, plum raspberry etc….
5. I love living in Europe – the many festivals, the old towns, the people, the travel, the food, the languages, but most of all the pace of life. I feel like here (and in Asia) I live life by the seasons and truly enjoy each one. And after such a long time here I wonder if I’m a different person than I would have been if I’d stayed in the US. Different in the way that plants, especially fruits, grown in different soil are significantly changed by their environment.
6. I love working as a pediatric physical therapist. Not just seeing the first crawls, first steps, and kids going to dances and get accepted to college (though that is nice). I love the opportunity to work with families over time, to work in the homes and in the schools, to be part of such a wonderful community.
7. I love writing. Poetry. Picture books. Novels. Even writing articles for newspapers and test passages. I love the feeling of creating something. The characters in my novels are REAL to me and I feel this amazing sense of responsibility to tell their stories true. I also love the variety, the endless possibilities, of the written word. And I love that the more I write and study craft and learn about writing, my skills improve. I know that as I continue to write and learn I will get closer to the ideal stories I have for each character (or closer to the expectations these characters have of me to tell their stories.)
I was nominated for the award by Bish. When nominated one must list seven things they love and then pass this award on to seven "Kreativ" people.
Seven and only seven so the millions of other things I love (and hundreds of other bloggers I would nominate) will have to wait for the next tag game!
I nominate:
1. Laurie
2. Candy
3. Emily
4. Stephanie
5. Natalie
6. Lenore
7. Sondy
